General Admissions Policies
Students may enter HTIC at the start of any term. Application materials must be submitted by the indicated application deadline. Every effort will be made to review and evaluate applications on a timely basis.
Enrollment Policies
Prospective students will be informed of the action taken on their application. Accepted students must submit their intent to enroll form by the date indicated in their acceptance letter. Acceptance may be deferred for up to one calendar year. After one calendar year (the equivalent of four successive terms) has passed, the applicant must submit a new, complete application, including all fees, to be reconsidered for admission.
Accepted international students receive a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement SEVIS Form I-20. The Form I-20 is used when applying for an F-1 student visa at the U.S. Consulate or Embassy nearest the student’s home. Processing of a visa application may take several months, so international students are advised to apply as soon as possible. The determination as to whether a visa will be issued is the sole responsibility of the consular office. Upon issuance of a visa, the student can complete travel arrangements to Hawai’i and enrollment in the college.
Students who decide to enroll at HTIC will then be asked to submit the following documents prior to registration.
- Health Immunization Clearance Form: All students attending post-secondary institutions in Hawai’i must submit an immunization clearance form that is completed and signed by a U.S. licensed medical practitioner.
- TB (Tuberculosis) Clearance: provided within 12 months of the start of the program of study
- TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis): 1 dose
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses
- Varicella (Chickenpox): 2 doses
- MCV (Meningococcal Conjugate: 1 dose at age 16 or older (*Required for first-year students living in on-campus housing)
- Proof of Health Insurance: Every student must have medical insurance coverage for the length of term in which the student is enrolled. Overseas travelers or student insurance is accepted.
- Non-refundable $100 Tuition Deposit (*Only applied to first-term tuition.)
After submitting all enrollment documents, students will receive a schedule for new student orientation and registration.
Transfer Credit Policies
HTIC will accept transfer credits if an equivalent course is offered at HTIC. To be evaluated for college credit(s), students must submit the following documents:
- An official transcript(s) mailed directly from the originating institution to HTIC’s Office of Admissions (*A detailed syllabus may be requested for further evaluation.)
- A completed transfer credit evaluation request form.
For a timely review, all materials must be submitted as soon as possible.
To receive AP credit, the student must earn a final grade of “C” or higher in the AP course and receive a minimum score of 3 (on a scale of 1-5; 5 being the highest) on the AP exam.
To receive credit(s) earned at other colleges or universities, the student must have completed the course(s) with a grade of “C” or higher.
